Moving is already an incredibly stressful experience, and the last thing on anybody's mind is the paperwork that comes with it.
I've created this step by step guide of what needs to happen with your child or young person's EHCP during that time.
Many parents and carers don't realise that the process is not automated, and that different Local Authority departments don't necessarily communicate with each other. Just because you've told the Council Tax department that you're moving, that information is not likely to get shared with the SEN Department.
Unfortunately, it is down to you to tell your SEN Team when you are moving, to make sure the 'mover out' process gets triggered and that your child continues to get access to appropriate education.
